I think it is fair to say that EVERYONE loves apple pie. Well I hope you will love this one!
We had guests for dinner last weekend and I wanted to make something super easy and simple so I rummaged around in my pantry (the state of that is another story for another time š¤¦āāļøš©) and found a tin of pie apples (bingo) and some left over cinnamon sugar from the jam donut slice the weekend before. It was a sign! May I present my cheats version of Apple Pieš„§š.
My cousin tagged me in on this thing on Facebook the other day about how sometimes all people want to do is read the recipe that they are there for and not the ramblings of a foodblogger. Hah! I laughed out loud and vowed to keep my words short on the next post. So, instead of hearing about all the things I have been up to lately I am going to jump straight to the recipe! Thank you darling cousin of mine. š¤£šš
Empty your apple pie filling into a bowl and sprinkle some cinnamon and sugar mixture on top. Add some sultanas or raisins and give it a good stir. Let it sit whilst you prepare your pastry.
Preheat your oven to 200 degrees and defrost two pieces of store bought puff pastry. Place one piece on a bench and brush with melted butter and then sprinkle some more of that delicious cinnamon and sugar mixture.
Next, place your apple mixture in the middle of the pastry and then place the second piece of puff on top. I told you this was easy! Fold in the edges and make some slits in the top to allow the steam to escape. Brush with the rest of your melted butter and then sprinkle on more cinnamon sugar. Trust me....
Bake in a hot oven for about 25 to 30 minutes. I pulled mine out a little under done but it was getting late and we were all ready for dessert!
Serve with custard, ice cream or even double cream.
There. That wasn't too long winded was it?!!!
Hi Rene. Thanks for the feedback! I have included quantities in the print out PDF version on the website if you head to the Recipes and Blog page but this tin was 800g. Hope that helps!
Recipes sound great. Am off to buy some ingredients now. However it would be good to show quantities. Eg tin of apples 425g or larger please
